If you use multiple peripherals in your business and need to connect them to your computer, you'll quickly run out of free USB ports. Keyboards, printers, mice, wireless adapters and chargers all need at least one free USB port. Newer Dell monitors come with USB ports to help you connect more devices to your computer. However, these ports must be activated, or powered, before you can use them.
2.Plug one end of the USB cable that came with your monitor into the USB upstream port on the bottom of the monitor.
3.Plug the other end of the USB cable into a free USB port on your computer.
4.Turn on the monitor and the USB connectors on the side and bottom of the Dell monitor are activated.

Reboot your computer if the USB connections are not working.
